Watch and Pray - Prayer Vigil at Julian of Norwich
In the evening prior to his arrest, Jesus led his disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane (Mathew 26:36 and Mark 14:32), telling them to Sit here while I go over there and pray. He then took Peter, James and John with him, in turn telling them to Stay here and keep watch with me.
When he returned to his disciples, he found them sleeping. Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour? he asked Peter. Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
A Prayer Vigil will be held in the Sanctuary and Chapel, starting at 9:00 p.m. on March 29th, immediately after the Maundy Thursday evening service and stripping of the altar. The Vigil will continue until 9:00 a.m. on Good Friday.
During that period, all are invited to spend time in quiet reflection and prayer in the church or chapel.
